Korean Hanbok on show in Hanoi
Tuesday, 07.22.2008, 08:49am (GMT)

A show of traditional Korean Hanbok costume will take place on July 16th in Hanoi with 52 Korean beauties, who all took part in the Korean Beauty Contest 2008, and the two Misses of Korea 2007.

The two Misses are among the three Misses of the Miss Korea Contest, for the three prizes of the True, the Good and the Beauty. The two are Miss Good, Park Ga Won, Miss Beauty, Lee Ji Ah while the third one, Miss True is now in Nha Trang, Vietnam for the Miss Universe Contest 2008.

The Korean beauties will bring to the stage 50 Tang-ui costumes, which were being used as royal costumes under the Chosun Dynasty, the wedding Hongwonsam costumes, the ritual Jeok-ui costumes under the Chosun Dynasty, and the Gongryongpo – the King’s everyday costume.
Besides the Hanbok, 10 Korean beauties will try on the Vietnamese traditional Ao Dai dress. The show will use the music from “De Jang Kum” and “Doctor Ho Jun”, the two films that are popular in Korea and have been shown on Vietnamese TV.
The show will be complemented by a flute performance by Kang Hyo Sun, with a new experimental style. The Korean beauties will also show their talents in ballet dancing, violin, and magic.

The show is organised to mark the 16th anniversary of the Vietnam – Korean diplomatic relations. Through this programme, the Korean Society in Vietnam, and the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will mobilise money in support of children with severe illness in Vietnam.
